Bronze Aura offers earthy, warm tones. Use on cheeks, brow ridge, collarbones...anywhere!

We use a synthetic mica in our Aura balms. In this case, synthetic means the “sparkles” are made in a laboratory from natural minerals vs. mined from the earth. Traceability, transparency, and safety is imperative when manufacturing cosmetics. Hurraw can trace our ingredients to the gram because we make it ourselves (no contract manufacturing).

Unfortunately, earth mined ingredients (micas, iron/tin oxides) are nearly impossible to track. Suppliers can rarely provide certificate of origin, proof of labor conditions, or documentation of what impurities they contain. We stubbornly refuse to use mined micas in our Aura balms due to contamination, heavy metals, and hushed labor practices.

Importantly, synthetic mica is third party tested to be free of antimony, arsenic, cadmium, lead, mercury, chromium, cobalt, and nickel. It is also safety tested for human use, i.e. the particles of shimmer are much too large to penetrate the skin and have been thoroughly tested for safe cosmetic use.

Glass/Tin: In our efforts to reduce plastic, we chose glass and tin! Aura's glass jar and tin lid are 100% recyclable.

Tiny Air Bubbles: Rare but sometimes appear on the surface due to our pouring process. These do not affect the product quality or performance in any way.

*certified organic ingredients. Hurraw Balm is certified organic by the Montana Department of Agriculture. Hurraw Balm products are gluten free.

Although you will see “tin oxide” and “iron oxide” on the ingredient list, they are found at less than <1% in the synthetic micas we use in Aura Copper and Aura Bronze.

pretty but issues as an eyeshadow

I originally bought this to use as eyeshadow. I loved it at first, but I think my eyelids must be too oily because I had a lot of buildup in my crease within an hour of applying. I even tried it with an eyeshadow primer underneath in hopes of preventing the crease buildup, but it made no difference! :(

I was a little bummed about that, but I can at least use it on my lips with no issue! And it can for sure be used on the cheeks and elsewhere for those who like a little shimmer on their faces. The bronze is slightly more orange than I expected, but it is pretty! The smell is pleasant, and I adore the little glass jar. And its always a bonus to have makeup with natural and responsible ingredients like hurraw always uses.

Would love to hear any advice for making it work as an eyeshadow like the lovely models in the pics. <3

Heeey M! Glad you are diggin' Bronze. We hear you on the eyeshadow. Aura was originally developed as an all-over type skin shimmer but we have many customers who love it as an eyeshadow. It can sometimes crease on the eyelid due to eyelids being 'unique skin' not to mention they move 19,000 times a day as we blink! We don't use binders or adhesion chemicals that many eyeshadows use for 'sticking' but that being said, we are on it! There are always newer cleaner green chemistry adhering agents coming out all the time; we are always R&D'ing to make this a better option for our amazing customers who want to use Aura as an eyeshadow. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy Aura otherwise and if you would like a refund, holler!! ❤️
