Welcome PLANTCOLOR™ ... 100% plant-based lip color!
Bee free, Shea free, Soy free, Palm free.
70% Certified Organic.
Ecocert COSMOS Certified - 100% Natural Origin.
Our new PLANTCOLOR™ pigments come from roots: beets, radishes and purple potatoes. We’ve talked about the beauty of anthocyanins and betalains in our lighter, tinted lip balms and we are so happy to highlight them again in these non-toxic, 100% plant-based lip colors.
As you can imagine, the process to make pigments from plants is lengthy and precious...
Like the majority of our ingredients, these roots grew in the bright sun, soaked in the rain, were pollinated by insects, made it through a full growing season and then had lots-of-human-hands-on to complete their coloring destiny. Within a day of harvest, the root juices are extracted sprayed onto a carrier medium (maltodextrin or acacia gum), dried and milled microfine. They get tested for purity and then shipped to us for blending into our (your) balms.
Darker than our popular tints with thicker stay-put-coverage.
100% PLANTCOLOR™ = no iron oxides (metal), carmine (cochineal insect) or FD&C/D&C synthetic dyes and lakes (petroleum).
Know that you are literally applying root vegetables to your lips and you will sense their natural taste and smell. We’ve lightly scented them with cherry-orange-vanilla and we threw in a smidge of sweetness from organic stevia. The tartness comes from the citric acid used to preserve the pigments and of course, like all our balms these are loaded with organic cacao, coconut, and Montana grown organic safflower oil.

I was kindly given the No. 1 as a freebie and it’s basically the Black Cherry, but more opaque and just as lovely. The BC is the perfect sheer, pinky tint. This, however, gives you the effect of a popsicle stain depending on how heavy you apply. It def has coverage! Like wowza. But it’s super buildable and can be sheered down to your liking. Has a faint veggie/fruity smell. Kind of reminds me of the old Flinstones vitamins from when I was a kid. I love this. Just as smooth and amazing as the regular balms. My new favorite lip tint.
Yay, omgosh, Flintstones! You are bringing back some fruity memories! Remember how you wanted to eat the whole bottle (or I did). Glad you are liking the PC#1!!
Smooth, poppy red popsicle with subtle hues that compliment my skin tone and can be deepened with continued application. I debated between 1-3, but wanted a more natural red versus purple tint and I’m so glad I chose this one. I was very generously gifted the black cherry tinted balm, which is much more sheer and smells like the juiciest cherries. The customer service was genuinely so kind from phone call and email communication regarding products to fun little notes on my packing slip. I wish I could pick up more products locally, so I’m hopeful they might expand their retailers eventually. I will be repurchasing!
I loved this color on me, and I loved the feel of this luxurious balm
